Upgrade to Service Pack 2

I have an older PC running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1.
Windows update works and does not attempt to upgrade to Service Pack 2. I
had read that to upgrade to Service Pack 2 might create some problems
especially with Norton Antivirus. I am planning to uninstall old Norton
Antivirus 2003 and install new from CD Norton Antivirus 2006 on that older
PC. Should I attempt to upgrade to Service Pack 2 first, or just leave my
PC as it is at Service Pack 1?
I have another newer PC with Windows XP Media Center Edition with
Service Pack 2 which works just fine.
Any ideas for my older PC? Thanks.

Chris.

Remove Norton.. install SP2.. then install AVG version 7 (the free one)..

Note that your computer will have to be spyware free before installing SP2..
use SpyBot, Adaware, CWShredder and SpywareBlaster as part of the
preparation..

Disconnect ALL devices other than screen, keyboard and mouse.. the less that
the SP2 installation encounters, the better it will all be.. please feel
free to re-connect everything after SP2 has installed..

D'accord. Free AVG is good but hard to find: http://free.grisoft.com/

I haven't done a direct comparison myself, but the buzz on the
newsgroup is that it is a FAR lighter user of system resources than
Norton.
