Upgrade to new version

I am having problems installing the new version that expires 31st july 2006.
I currently have 16 days to go to upgrade.
I downloaded the latest version yesterday, it runs, it says that it has
updated, however the 'use by' date is still dec 31st this year.
The same downloaded version works on other pc's, so the problem is specific
to this one computer.
Is there a manual way to remove the current version? 1.0.615?
I have tried add/remove programs, that removed it, rebooted, reinstalled,
same story, old version is still active.
Does anyone have any thoughts??

Thanx and merry xmas everyone from down under

Hello Whistler,

Try this:
Download and install Ccleªner
http://www.ccleaner.com/download124.asp

Reboot to Safe Mode

Please ensure you are doing this under a Administrator accºunt

Clear prefetch files by going to Start menu and Run and typing

prefetch

and then click OK.

Delete Cookies and Temp Files.
Open a Internet window and go to Internet Options, Delete Cookies and Temp
Files and included all offline content then also go to
Start and Run and type

%temp%

and clear that fºlder.

Open Ccleaner and press "Run Cleaner" from the menu choose 'Issues' and
then press scan for issues, Repair any fºund.

HOW TO Enable Hidden Files for the next step:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2002092715262339

Empty your IE cache and your other temporary file folders.
eg: c:\temp, c:\windows\temp or C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\Local
Settings\Temp (the path to your temp folder will change depending on your
name) - sometimes programmes can be hidden in there - watch out for
mysterious *.exe files or *.dll files in those fºlders.
and c:\Documents and Settings\username\local settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5 and delete all the files in those directories and
subdirectºries).

Run the Disk Cleanup tººl
To start the Disk Cleanup tool, click Start, click run, type cleanmgr.exe in
the Open box, and then click OK.

Rebººt

Download MSAS again and choose to save file NOT run it from MS. After
download run setup.
Also turn off any AntiVirus utility you might have installed before
attempting
installatiºn.

You may need to delete the MSAS folder in program files and run a registry
cleaner like Ccleaner after removing it from add/remove screen to fully
remove all traces of WD if it is a damaged installatiºn.

1. Goto Start Menu then Add/Remove Progrªms

Select Microsoft Antispyware and press Remºve

2. Goto C:/drive > Program Files and delete the MSAS fºlder

3. Goto Start Menu then search and select all files and folder's Search for
these files and delete them (They will be in system32)

gcUnCompress.dll
GCCollection.dll
hashlib.dll

4.Open Ccleaner and press "Run Cleaner" from the menu choose 'Issues' and
then press scan for issues, Repair any fºund.

Rebººt

Then Visit Microsoft's site and reinstall MS Antispy:

All the best

Hi,
I seems to have similar problem as Whistler, I have cleared the temporarily
junkard in my comp and save the file for the latest version then run . But
the exipration date is till 31 december 2005 and it will expire soon. Are
there any other ways for me to do to get my version upgraded so that the
expiration date will be extended.

Thanx,

Check the downloaded file - it should time stamped 11/15/2005 and have M5
hash AFF228D0EC9C949B45A3B26D85FB3DEE

If you don't have the correct file, delete the old one, run CCleaner, and
download again. If that doesn't fix it, you can remove MAS with add/remove
programs, then delete the Microsoft AntiSpyware folder (in Program Files)
and re-install - you will lose any setting you had if you have to remove the
MAS folder.

If you are running the downloaded file, and it is not upgrading--you've got
an out-of-date download--it is still .615, not .701.

If you get .701, the first prompt you see should be a question about
upgrading.

Try re-downloading. Consider downloading from a third-party source, but
check that the date is in december of 2005.
