Hi,

Installing Vista on new Dell computer. It has been on the Expanding stage at
21% for the past 10 hours. How long does it take?

Expanding files should take only a few minutes. My Vista install today took
20 mins total for the whole install.

I've done a full, clean install of Ultima in under 30 minutes. Did your
disk have enough space? You need around 12GB to install.

You didn't describe your hardware so I have to guess. If you are using dual
monitors, the install probably completed but there is a point at which Setup
sometimes switchs monitors and fails to switch the display. So you see a
screen frozen in time and the other monitor did not come on as expected.
The resolution is to install with the VGA monitor connected and the DVI
disconnected. Not just turned off, but disconnected. After installation
resume using the other monitor. The bug is related to the connectors on
some video cards. It is only an issue during Setup.

Of course, it might not be the issue in your case. You really need to tell
a lot more about how you are installing and a lot of details about your
hardware.
