I currently run 256 mb RAM Pentium R4 CPU 1.60 GHz with windows XP Home. Is
it worth my while to upgrade or should I purchase a new System?

You really need a new video card probably, 1 gig ram, and maybe other
devices will
not work of have no device drivers available. Get a new system and use that
one to
learn networking.

Hi Stuart,

How old is the system?
What motherboard is in use?
What video card is in use?
If this was a preinstalled, off-the-shelf system, have you checked with the
manufacturer as to whether it can be upgraded to Vista?

The ram you have is insufficient for reasonable performance. You need to
double it (512MB) at the least, and preferably quadruble to 1GB if at all
possible. Look carefully at the cost of upgrading, it may make more fiscal
sense to just purchase new components or an entire new system.
