Upgrade Questions

Hi. I need some advice. I am upgrading my computer. My current system has
a MSI K8T Neo2 motherboard and a AMD Athlon 64 3000. My video card is an
ATI All-in-wonder 9600. I've already purchased a ECS KN1 Lite motherboard
and a AMD Athlon 64 4200 dual core. I will also be purchasing a new PCIE
video card (probably from ATI). My operating system is Windows XP
Professional (and I have Vista RC2 on a second hard drive).

My understanding is simply swapping the CPU would pose no problem. But
since I'm also changing the motherboard and video card I'm concerned about
problems. Normally I would reinstall Windows XP, but since I will be moving
to Vista in a couple of months, I'm thinking of leaving XP alone.

Since I will be changing the motherboard and video card as well, is there
anything I need to do prior to the upgrade? Should I go into the control
panel and delete the CPU? Video card? Motherboard?

Other than the obvious MSI software, is there any other software (like the
via drivers) that needs to be uninstalled?

Anything in particular I need to do after the upgrade?

Thanks in advance

You should check your mobo. Looks like it's an AGP 8X board, not PCI-E.

My current MSI board is an AGP board. The ECS board I'm replacing it with
has PCI-E.
I had originally planned on just buying a new CPU but Frys had a 1 day
special of a AMD 64 X2 4200 (retail box) and motherboard combo for $149 that
I couldn't resist. Even factoring in a new PCI-E video card I now need to
buy it's still a better deal than just the CPU alone.
