Upgrade of Windows XP home to XP professional

Hi,
When we buy sony laptop, They give Windows XP Home edition along with lot of
other softwares installed on it. Sony doesn't give any disks. All these sony
softwares are needed for easy compatibility sake between other sony products
(camera, camcoder etc). Sony in UK/Ireland doesn't have any customisation
option. So i have to upgrade it to XP professional by myself.

If i get a XP professional CD, and try to install it on XP HOME, will i
loose all the other softwares which sony has given??

If there any update uption from Xp home to Xp professional.
Pls let me know.
Thanks

The B, S and T series Vaio laptops are supplied with XP professional.. only
the A and FS series supply with XP Home..

If you buy the FULL retail XP Pro version (a blue box), you will be able to
upgrade what you have..

If you buy the Upgrade retail version, you may be left without qualifying
media in the event that you have a serious hardware crash, so I would not
recommend this route..

The OEM version will NOT upgrade.. it will only allow clean installs, so
don't touch it..

I assume that you want to upgrade to XP Pro such that you can log onto a
domain..
