Is it true that if you buy the upgrade Ultimate and you are upgrading you XP
PRO that it deactivates your XP PRO so that you can never use it again? If
this is so how will I have to due a claean install if something happens to my
computer I have to erase everything?

I saw this hashed out in another forum where the guy called Microsoft and
specifically asked this question. According to Microsoft...IT WILL NOT
DEACTIVATE XP. Many have tried booting back into XP with no issues. Be
warned there is alot of misleading info...which is understandable in the
opening days of launch, and this deactivation stuff is not correct. I also
successfully booted back into XP Media Center without issue. Hope this helps.

That is the meaning of "clean install". You install an OS on a
freshly-formatted HD ("clean install"), or in a NEW folder containing
no files (called a "parallel installation").
