upgrade from Win98 - Recommend XP or 2000?

I've got a Compaq Presario with an AMD-K6 (400mhz)
processor, 224mb ram, and 12gb hard drive with Win98
installed. Does anyone have a recommendation as to
whether I should upgrade to Win XP, or is the CPU speed so
slow that I should upgrade to win 2000 instead? Any other
considerations?

Lee,

I would say that you are real marginal for WinXP. It'll run but not fast.
Win2K Pro may indeed be a better choice unless you upgrade your CPU.
