Upgrade from OEM-installed Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003?

I have a Dell XPS Gen5 with a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition OS
with a 500 GB Hard Drive. The PC arrived with OEM-installed "Microsoft Office
Basic Edition 2003" (Version: 11.0.6). This Microsoft Office version includes
Office Excel 2003, Office Word 2003 and Office Outlook 2003.
It does NOT include Microsft Office PowerPoint 2003.
I would like to upgrade with Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 software, but
it does NOT appear I can simply purchase a stand-alone PowerPoint software CD.
If I purchase a new CD of Microsoft Office 2003 that includes all four (4)
software tools (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) do I need to:

- Uninstall the OEM-installed software (Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003)
? or
- Can I install the new Microsoft purchased edition of Microsoft Office 2003
that incudes all four software features "over" the existing OEM-installed
software?
- Any other advice is welcome for this software upgrade

Thanks,

Will all of the pdf. word, jpeg and other document/picture files I have
stored in the "My Documents" folder on PC be affected in any way from
installing the new software described below?

Have you considered talking to Dell, tell them youve made a mistake and can
they offer an upgrade discount. You never know! You wont lose your files BTW.

I'd suggest uninstalling the existing basic edition and installing all over from
your CD so there's no question about where the install came from.

After installing, go here, do that:

Do this before using PowerPoint seriously

Very very very unlikely.

But if they're of any value, since you've got 500gb worth of HDD to play in, copy
them all to a backup folder temporarily. That way you're covered.
