hi, through my MSDN subscription i've downloaded the Vista DVD and the
product key for Business edition.
I've now seen that the product key for Ultimate is also available and i'd
like to add DVD Maker to my installation. what do I have to do? i've seen
that there is the anytime upgrade web site but i don't want to buy another
license, i've already have the license key for ultimate.
thanks to all
G

Perform an in-place-upgrade with the Ultimate edition product key and the
MSDN dvd in the drive. You do not need to download another dvd. Just
changing the product key does not upgrade the bits. You need to go through
the installation procedure. When you get to the screen with the upgrade and
custom options, choose upgrade. Your files, settings, and apps will remain
installed.

Can I assume this uses the same upgrade process as an upgrade from another
OS? Lay down a new copy of Vista an 'try' to reinstall drivers, programs
and settings? Think I would be making a full system backup before trying
this.

I don't believe it is the same process as upgrading from a legacy OS. It is
more like a repair installation in XP except that it is done from the
desktop instead of by booting with the media.

Thank you Colin,
i was wishing that changing the product key let the OS recognize the new
version, but i will do an in-place-upgrade as you told me.
bye

You're welcome.
