Updating Win-XP - Recently - will not scan for needed UpDates

Windows - 0x80072F76 Error when visiting the Windows

I ALWAYS (in recent weeks) get an error (see below) after
the screen that says that my system will be checked for
available updates - it USED to work OK - I could select
the updates to download - but now NEVER.
..
HOW can I again start getting Windows xp-Home UpDates?
{ OR - should I just let well enough alone and forget
UpDates?

NONE of the above works - no help at all, and NO REPLY.

No hardware or software has been changed or added.

I do use TurboDial/SlipStream (VERY helpful for my rural
old slow tel-line) - disabling it does NOT help - and
there used to be no problem even when it is an active
process.

That sometimes happens when the MS servers are busy. Click the refresh
button a few times and you should get in.
