Updating of cell linked to drop-down list

Hi,

I have a drop-down list that uses a named range as input, and obviousl
has a single cell as its output.

Suppose the user has selected an item from the current drop-down list
and the linked cell contains the index of that item. *My issue is tha
if the size of the named range changes (i.e. such that the position o
the originally selected item changes within it), the list in th
drop-down box updates, but the integer in the linked cell does no
update (even with calculation set to Automatic).*

Is there a way to force updating of the linked cell associated with
drop-down box, without the user having to choose a different item i
the list and then go back to the original one?
