Updates won't install

I have just setup a new laptop running windows XP Pro. The first thing I did
was install the updates. However after installing SP 3 I then told me there
were a further 22 updates. These all downloaded without a problem, but they
refuse to install.

Every time the laptop is used it says there are updates available, I go to
the web site and it shows me the same 22 files, but every time they refuse to
install.

How can I get my laptop to update?

Hi there!

You also can try the following steps.

1.) Start Windows and fire up Notepad/Editor
2.) Type the following lines:

regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll /s
regsvr32 dssenh.dll /s
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 initpki.dll /s
regsvr32 jscript.dll /s
regsvr32 mssip32.dll /s
regsvr32 msxml.dll /s
regsvr32 msxml2.dll /s
regsvr32 msxml3.dll /s
regsvr32 qmgr.dll /s
regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll /s
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll /s
regsvr32 sccbase.dll /s
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 softpub.dll /s
regsvr32 vbscript.dll /s
regsvr32 wintrust.dll /s
regsvr32 wuapi.dll /s
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll /s
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll /s
regsvr32 wuauserv.dll /s
regsvr32 wucltui.dll /s
regsvr32 wups.dll /s
regsvr32 wups2.dll /s
regsvr32 wuweb.dll /s

3.) Save this document as a BATCH file (for example: updates.bat) to a place (desktop or anything else) where you can find it
4.) Double click the batch and let it run until it is finished (a small shell window opens, process may take a while)
5.) Reboot the PC and try again to update your XP
