Updates will download but installation fails

I had to re-install Win2k and after installing SP4 and the rollup, whenever
I run Windows Update, it will download the required files but they all fail
to install. The message I receive is that there is something wrong with my
Windows, which is refusing to accept the new files.

Any help on solving this problem would be appreciated.

Please post the exact text of the error message...it can't really say
"There's something wrong with your Windows," can it?

After downloading the updates a dialog headed <Installing Updates> appears
with the following message: <Updates were unable to be successfully
installed> then above the list of failed updates is the following heading:
<The following updates were not installed> followed by the list of those
updates. After closing this dialog, there is a following message I copied
from the Winodws Update screen:
Failed Updates
For help installing an update successfully, see the solution under
each problem description.

Problem: End User License Agreement (EULA) Not Accepted
Solution: Check for updates again and wait while you install updates.
You will be asked to accept the EULA before any updates with a EULA can be
installed.

Problem: Not Enough Disk Space
Solution: To make more space available, run the Disk Cleanup tool or
uninstall any programs that you don't use. For directions, see Help and

Problem: Automatic Updates is currently installing updates
Solution: Please wait until Automatic Updates is complete and then
check your update history. At that time, if the update has failed to
install, you can try installing it from the website.
Note: To view Automatic Updates progress, click the updating icon in
your System Tray.

Problem: Please check your update history for a description.

Problem: A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being
downloaded or installed
Solution: To fix the problem, try installing the updates again. If
that doesn't work, use the Troubleshooter to try solve the problem.
I clicked on the troubleshooter and received the following response:

Sorry, no results were found that match the criteria you entered.

I also want to mention that after re-installing Windows, I did not
run Windows update, I first installed SP3 than Outlook Express 6a and then
SP4 and SP4 Rollup (all previously downloaded) before going to Windows
Update.

Hello Lawrence,

I have checked the installation history, clicked on the failed icon and the
dialog that appeared shows an Error Code 0x80246005. Any solution?
