Updates To memory

Running XP & SP1. I got a SP2 Disk from Miscrosoft & intend to
install it. I am sure that there are >50 updates to install. I am connected
via a dial up modem. Can I download the updates using my grandson's
computer, write them to a CD & install them on my computer? If not,
can I download on my computer & write them to a CD for installation?
Last question. For my downloads I go to "start/help&support/etc."
& do my downloads which are immediately installed. Is there a way
to download the updates & save them on disk & install them later?
Thanks in advance....marvo

Yes to all your questions, you can download the updates like any other file
or program and install them later, you need to click on "Use Administrator
Options" in the Windows Update page, then click on Windows Update Catalog,
later select Windows XP SP2 (you may need to accept a download to be able to
see the updates) and select the type of updates you want to download (all or
only critical) and download the updates to your hard drive or to any other
computer with a faster connection, and burn a CD to install on your
computer.
