Updates that will not install in new Windows 2000 build

I just reinstalled Windows 2000 for the 2nd time on a completely new machine,
and am unable to install these five updates: KB 911564; 923689; 904706;
917734; and 925398. Each apparently downloads fine using Windows update, but
none successfully install - with the OS instead perpetually hanging when
attempting to install any one of these five. This new machine is based on
the NForce 4 chipset and 6150 video chipset - and my guess is that there is
some wierd compatibility issue between these files and the Nvidia chipsets.
I have tried downloading each individually, and then executing the exes - but
this also leads to the OS hanging.

My old machine used a VIA chipset, and apparently had no problem installing
these five files. Any ideas? And more importantly, might these five
updates have been made redundant through more recent patches?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

All the updates except one seem to be related to Windows Media player or
media files. The one exception is related to DirectX. Do a search of
the MSKB for the updates and you may find additional information
concerning the updates and possible reasons as to why they do not
install properly, for example: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909596/
