I have been going in circles here. Windows Update tell me there are three
files to be updated- (KB932246, KB905860, KB929399). I go to update all
three and receive a Failed which I only learn after a reboot when I look to
the Window Update program. The Error number is the same for all three -
8007003.

I read what I should do - delete the Folders under Windows \
SoftwareDistribution. I can not delete everything in that Folder but delete
what I can. (I have been in contact with MS Support and was told to rename
that Folder which did not work (since there are a few files that are used by
another program).

Is this an 'issue' ... or is this just me? If this is an issue, that's no
problem, I'll just wait for a solution.

I am using Vista Home Premium preinstalled on a new computer.

I am having the exact same problem with Window Vista Ultimate. I have tried
stopping the windows update service and renaming the update directory and
then restarting the service. This creates a new directory. However, After
doing this I don't see any updates.

Scott and Dave I feel your pain.I also have had the exact same problem. I
have been going in circles here too! I get - "Windows Module Installer has
stopped working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is
available."
- (KB932246, KB929399). I also tried - delete the Folders under Windows \
SoftwareDistribution. I have been in contact with MS Support and for the
past 4 days have had to wait while someone in China can respond every day. He
is very polite and helpful, but every remedy has failed. I sent two differnt
Application Log and System Log. Now today he didn't respond- Must have
stumped him. Also my Multi Medi Player which plugs into a USB isn't
recognized anymore and it had worked the other day.
I am using Vista Home Premium upggraded over WMC .

Hans, I think we might have the same person from MS Support, helpful, nice,
but so far nothing has worked though I have learned a few things to try the
next time things don't go well. My problem will now be forwarded to another
person I am assured. (I personally find it great that I have personal
contact through personal e-mail re a problem I have.)

I did manage to install two of those three updates (and posted that here)
but I have no idea why those two updates stuck to the hard drive that last
time when every other time they failed.

The one update that is not installing is Update for Windows Media Format 11
SDK for Windows XP (KB929399) which was the one I was told to use.

What's interesting, MS Support gave me three options of that Update to
install manually. None of the updates really applied. I am running Vista
Home Premium (32 bit). I was offered that Update for XP, another version
for XP64 and another version for Vista 64. None mentioned Vista (32 bit)
from the manual update list. I questioned that and was specifically given
the XP flavor to update which did not stick to the hard drive.

Since I am not alone with this problem I am sure MS will come up with a
solution. I'm not losing any sleep over this though I have wasted a fair
amount of time just the same.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the update on your situation. Now I getting errors popping up
like "Windows Media Player has stopped Working". I am using Nero 7 Ultimate
and it is Vista ready but I get an error that their is an update to install,
even though I am up to date. My Support Tech didn't reply today so I'm hoping
for Saturday morning. I feel like going back to Media Center OS. DOH! Good
Luck!
Hans
