Updates and Reboot

In Windows XP Pro Updates were recently done; I do not know if updates were
XP or Office. Now the machine always says:

"The computer must be restarted before updating can continue" Every time I
reboot.

I tried to do manually NEW updates found nothing but still get the error. I
deleted all Temp files still the same.

Only one user and administrator. I do not know what to try next.

Try to turn off automatic updates, then turn it on again. To turn it off:
Right-Click (My computer) and choose (Properties). Then choose (Automatic
Updates) tab. Then choose (Turn off Automatic Updates). Then (OK). To Turn it
on again follow the same steps but choose (Automatic) at the last step.

Tip: Temporarily disable real-time protection by your anti-virus and/or
anti-spyware applications (e.g., CounterSpy, Spysweeper, Spybot Tea Timer,
AVG Anti-Spyware) and/or any third-party firewall (e.g., ZA) before
attempting to install the update(s). If you disable the third-party
firewall, make certain that you enable the Windows Firewall!

Unfortunately none of these ideas helped. I created a new user, who does not
get the “must reboot to finish updatesâ€. But when logging back in as the
original user I get the error. I do not know where the error is coming from.
It does not say Microsoft updates.

"The computer must be restarted before updating can continue" is not the
same message as " must reboot to finish updates ".
The former is related to a 3rd party software update; the latter is
related to a Windows update.
Since the newly created User Account has Admin privileges does not bring
up any error message than it's related to 3rd party software and not
related to an OS update.
