Updates all fail

Randy

I lost sound on my XP Pro system. At least most sounds. AIM and MSMessenger
still worked, but nothing else. I tried a number of registry fixes I found
via links in this newsgroup. But none corrected the problem.

I reinstalled Windows XP Pro with SP2 slipstreamed into the build. That
restored sound to everything.

Now Windows Updates all fail. It started with Windows Updater 3.1 failing,
Microsoft Support sent a file that reset a bunch of registry settings, and
then that installed. Now all other updates fail to install. All 91 one of
them. any magic solutions to this?

Thanks

Have a look at this article - ignore the title -
Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or by
using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP installation

Otherwise post to the WU Newsgroup (state your OS on that Newsgroup as it deals with more
than just WinXP).
