update problem

I went to the Windows update site to search out new updates and after scanning, was told I needed one critical update and eight Windows XP updates. I downloaded the critical update and when that was complete, clicked on the Windows XP box to get a list of those updates but no list appeared. Instead I was kicked back to the original window which wanted to re-scan my computer. There was no way I could get the list of needed updates by clicking on the Windows XP option. Can anyone help?

Hi marmot,

To set Windows Update for downloading the updates for later
installation instead of installing now:
Go to Windows Update
Click on Personalize Windows Update (left column)
Click "Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also
Click Save Settings button.

When you're ready to download:
Go to Windows Update
Click Windows Update Catalog (left column)
Click on Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems (or,

Find
driver updates for hardware devices)
Select your OS & click the Search button
Select what you want; Critical or Recommended
Select the downloads you want and go to the download basket.

Or vist the troubleshooting page:

Also, visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top10faqs.htm and scroll
down to "Why Can't I Download Updates" for additional troubleshooting

Good luck
