I don't recall seeing this update posted. . .

XXCopy v 2.85.9 (2005-01-28)

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2005/PL2005SYSTEMUTILITIES.php#0873-PW

XXCopy
(Liteware) (free for non-commercial use)
Windows OS: Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP; Windows Server 2003 Runs in
command line mode
Languages: English
Description: XXCOPY is a command line utility for easily backing up
files and folders. It provides more that 200 advanced features for even
the most seasoned user. Probably the most popular use of XXCOPY is as
disk- cloning tool. It can duplicate an entire system drive that can
boot Window 9X/ME (though not NT/2000/XP). When converting files with
long file names to the DOS 8.3 file-name convention, XXCOPY handles the
long file name correctly and doesn't give the two files the same 8.3
name. XXCOPY can be used to synchronize directories and overwrite
read-only files. With XXCOPY, you can back up up directories
incrementally without the use of archive bit. Exclude directories or
files from copying by wild cards. Qualify file by file date/time
(Before, On, or After). Copy hidden/system files. Flatten a directory
tree into files in one directory. Copy only the first n bytes and more.
XXCOPY comes with a 16-bit version (XXCopy16).

Just adding, there is a very useful windows help file (chm) available,
Latest "official unofficial version" complied November 14, 2004:

/quote/
"This is not an official xxcopy help file, just something created
by one of the many happy users of this powerful file management
utility. There is no implied warranty as to the accuracy of this
file, however to the best of my knowledge everything is correct.

The latest pixelab approved version of this file can be
downloaded from: http://www.xxcopy.com/xxcopy.chm
The latest beta version of this file can be downloaded from:
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xxcopy/files/xxcopy.chm>
/end quote/

PS: ouch, you need a Yahoo account and logon to it to get to the beta
version...

All the best,

Do you recall why it is classified as Liteware?

I'm not Susan, but let me give it a try:

<http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/WareGlossary.php>
"Liteware: free version of a commercial program. A useful program
that is more limited in features and functionality than the
commercial product. Liteware is not time-limited."

So AFAIK - when a commercial and more feature-rich program exist (pro
version), the free (here: for personal use only) version is properly
labeled "Liteware"...

When you "install" Xxopy (run it for the first time), the
intro/licence that scrolls past the screen (and requires your yes/no
input) says:

"Freeware Version (for personal use or product evaluation)
For routine commercial usage in a corporate environment,
please acquire a Corporate Site License from Pixelab, Inc.

If you intend to use it in a corporate environment, you may
sign up for a 60-day trial version of XXCOPY Pro Edition.
Although the Freeware version supports the same set of the
command switches that the Pro Edition provides, it is better
suited for automated execution in a batch script, especially
in networked environments.!

I know it is a bit of a nagware.

It is, but only modestly so - as far as I can recall (but I do not use
xxcopy on a daily basis...so my recollection is not to be trusted :)

From: <http://www.xxcopy.com/xxcopy34.htm>

"Currently practically all XXCOPY-Pro features are available
in the XXCOPY Freeware version except that in some circumstances,
the Freeware version displays a message which requires a user
response."

All the best,

but then again, a nag is a nag is a nag - ergo -> nagware ...
