In further research when I select the pulldown to try and change directories
for this annoying problem I see another pop-up stating it can't find Desktop
and Settings\LocalService\Desktop! OK, In Googling I see a kludge fix to
just create a directory with that path.. Is there anyway to correct this
problem correctly? I've been running this PC for months without problems.
I ran prior to what I state below where I saw Windows trying to install
WGA... Would this install cause the problem if it didnt finish? I manually
completed the update after to see if this changed anything but NG. Is the
only way to get rid of this, a clean install, since I doubt that a Windows
repair install will do anything?
Today out of the clear blue when I booted my system(XP-Pro /SP2) I suddenly
was confronted with a search for Windows help files in the system32
directory. I can either let the window sit there til it appears to timeout
or cancel out of the search and Windows appears to come up fine. When this
first happened I noticed Windows update was disabled and Windows was trying
to do an auto update(Genuine Windows Advantage yet again..) Symantec
said no viruses so am wondering whats up? Also as a side I thought to do a
Windows restore to yesterday and or earlier. Another surprise, none work.
