Update firmware

I tried to update the firmware for my NEC DVD RW drive, according to
instructions I'm supposed to un-install Intel Ultra-ATA storage driver or
the update will fail, however, when I un-install it I have to reboot, the
hardware is reinstalled so I'm back to square one, how can I un-install
Intel Ultra-ATA Storage so I can then proceed with installing the new
firmware for the NEC DVD RW drive?, Phil.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the device, Properties, see the checkbox to 'disable'
