This is just FYI for anyone who's interested, in case it was not an isolated
incident.

I was running build 613. Every day, I would get a message that an update
was required. I would OK the update and it would indicate that the update
had succeeded. Eventually I figured I'd better look into it, and it turns
out that nothing was updating - both the software and the signature file
were out of date. I tried to use the update feature to upgrade to build 615
three or four times without success.

Eventually, I had to uninstall 613 to install 615. Now everything seems to
be working normally.

Build 613 was replaced very quickly, for reasons that haven't been made
clear--it is strongly recommended that everyone move to build .615.
