unwanted text linking (advertisements)

Jason

My computer is linking words that aren't intended to be
linked. It's some form of sick advertisement that a
website must have installed.

So far, the words that I found that do this are:

books travel games

Check out this example of a word on the [AA] forums that
does this:

http://pages.ivillage.com/zeedee11/sitebuildercontent/site
builderpictures/stupid.JPG

See where it says "GAMES" in the description under the
Technical/Other Games forum? It's a link and it's not
suppose to be. This is the site that it links me to when
I click on that phantom "GAMES" link:
http://www.runsearch.com/top/go.php?qq=games

Here is another example as well:

http://pages.ivillage.com/zeedee11/sitebuildercontent/site
builderpictures/stupid2.JPG

This is a different website that links me to the same
thing when I click on the "GAMES" link.

Even when I preview this post the words that I posted
above turn into bogus links for me (and probably not
you). Check it out:

http://pages.ivillage.com/zeedee11/sitebuildercontent/site
builderpictures/stupid3.JPG

The following is the code that I get for the
stupid "GAMES" link.

<a href="http://go-advertising.com?go=games"
onmouseover="window.status = 'goto: games';return 1"
onmouseout="window.status=''">games</a>

Anybody have a similar problem? Anyone know how to fix
this? I think my Microsoft Internet Explorer has been
hacked. I need help.

I checked out the site
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/darnit_2.htm#ezula and
searched for the ezula files on my computer to get rid of
TopText. I could not find ezulaboot.dll or regsvr32.exe
on my computer, as well as stub.exe. But, I changed my
internet settings like it says at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm, ran the adaware
program, and restarted my computer. The problem vanished
for about 5 minutes, my computer froze up for a couple of
sections at my 3rd or 4th webpage, I loaded up a 5th page
and then the unwanted links were back. Words such as
CAMERA, GAMES, TRAVEL, ect.

what should I do next?

I don't know what's doing it then.

First eliminate any scumware.

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Thanks Frank, I had to update ad-aware. The links are
gone as of right now...

Hopefully it stays that way.
