Unwanted Bubble Messages

Whenever I start up Windows XP Professional — from either standby mode or
from power-off mode — I am inundated with bubble messages in the lower right
hand corner of the screen telling me that my WiFi system is connected but
isn’t receiving any signals, or that my CD-ROM drive has files that need to
be written (even when I don’t think this is the case), that critical updates
are not set to be automatically downloaded, or that there are unused icons on
my desktop that need to be cleaned up.

I’m really exhausted of all these bubble messages!! How do I prevent them
from being shown each time I start up Windows XP Professional?
