Unwanted Boot Screens in XP Pro

I have tried to keword in a search to assist but cannot seem to find the
right way to pose the question(s) to get an answer. First, how does one
eliminate the Log On screen? Secondly, after hitting "Enter" when that Log
On screen appears, the boot process continues but all I get is a completely
blank blue screen no matter how long I wait. Then, when I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del
at that blank screen, the normal desktop shows up. Anybody know what is
happening here? I'd like to turn on this laptop and have it boot directly to
the desktop without stopping or interruptions. Thanks!

Click Start > Run, type in: control userpasswords2 and press Enter.
Uncheck "Users must enter a username........"
Click Apply > Ok.

Click Start > Run, type in: secpol.msc and press Enter.
Click Security Options.
If "Interactive logon: Do not require ctrl+alt+del" is "Not Defined", leave as is
and exit out.
If "Interactive logon: Do not require ctrl+alt+del" is Disabled, double click on
"Interactive logon: Do not require ctrl+alt+del" and put a tic in Enable.
Click Apply > Ok.
Close out.

The Log On screen solution worked but the blank blue screen still requires Ctrl-Alt-Del to get past it. I tried to "Disable" the security feature and rebooted to no avail. Then I went back and "Enabled" the security feature and still have the blue screen. Very puzzling!

Click Start > Run, type in: regedit and press Enter.
Expand to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

In the right pane look for an entry named DisableCad.
If it is present and the Value is 0 double click on DisableCad and change the Value
to 1.
Click Ok and close regedit.

If DisableCad is not present:
Right click an empty area in the right pane.
Click New > DWORD value
Type DisableCAD and press Enter.
Double click on DisableCad and give it the Value of 1.
Click Ok and close regedit.

The Disable CAD entry was not there so I created it as instructed with a value of 1. Unfortunately the boot process still requires Ctrl-Alt-Del to get by that blank blue screen and get to the desktop screen. Maybe there is an additional step necessary. Thanks

I checked for the same in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
and that option ws there with a value of 1.

I tried disabling Fast User Switching in Control Panel > User Accts > Change
the way users..... but first had to uninstall Client Services for Netware to
gain access to that option screen. Once accomplished the disable option for
fast switching was greyed out (unavailable) so I guess by default it is
disabled. The blue screen mystery remains. I appreciate your digging into
possible remedies. Thanks!
