Unwanted Adult Icons

When ever I logon several Adult web site icons populated the desktop, my default web pages changes and I cet short cut in my favorites to adult web sites. I can delete them but the next time I logon again they show up again. I have run the startup with startup files disabled, it made no difference. How can I find what is loading so I can track it down and kill it.

Thanks

Try going to download.com or cnet.com and get spybot, it
tracks down spyware and lets you get rid of most of
it... "search and destroy!!!"

Greetings --

When visiting such the sites be careful not to download/install
their allegedly "free" viewers. ;-} To repair the current situation,
uninstall the "viewer(s)" provided and then use Ad-Aware from
www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search and Destroy from
http://security.kolla.de/ to clean up any residue. Both have free
evaluation versions.

You should also try using MSConfig to see if something is being
started each time you reboot.

Additionally, Look in the C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up and C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up folders, and in the
system registry, primarily in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys.

How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP
