unusual problem

I have been having this problem for quite some time now. When I let my
computer go into screen saver mode for a good long while and then get back
to it, certain programs ask me if I would like to exit the program (I.e.
There and mIRC). Sometimes, when there are no programs running, Windows pops
up its own shut down options. I have tried changing the video card, adding
memory reformatting the hard drive, updating all drivers and BIOS. I also
performed a government wipe on my hard drives to delete possible
undetectable rootkits. Recently, I upgraded the sound card. Everything I did
is to no avail. I am hoping someone else may know of what's going on and how
to fix it. Thanks in advance. My current configuration is:

ASUS P4S800D-E Deluxe Motherboard
480 Watt Power Supply
Pentium 4 2.8GHz HT Processor
eVGA GeForce 6200 256MB onboard RAM
2GB DDR SDRAM
SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
Maxtor 60GB 7200RPM HDD
Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM HDD
I/O Magic 16X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW
Windows XP Professional SP2

Please keep in mind that I did check the Knowledge Base, but i guess I don't
know what key phrase to put in.

I uninstalled DiskKeeper 9 and that seems to, at least so far, be the
culprit.
