Unsuccessful Installation...Windows has been restored

I have Home Edition SP2 on my Gateway 420GR Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.93GHz, with
1.46 GB of RAM.

I easily downloaded the 32 bit iso. file to my computer and burned the image
at 2x on my DVD using Nero. Once it was done, I started the install setup.
Once there, I updated my computer and typed in my activation code and pressed
update...NOT CLEAN INSTALL...and it started to install. While installing, it
got to expanding at 21% and it rebooted like it said it would. When it
rebooted, it came to the boot manager and I pressed enter on rollback INSTEAD
of previous version. Then the boot screen came up(loading screen) and when
it was finished, it went to the Aroura backround place where it said updating
windows. When it was finished it rebooted AGAIN and went to the boot manager
where I pressed rollback. It went to the boot screen again and then to the
Aroura backround place, but this time it said quickly,"Unsuccessful
Installation, Windows has been restored" and so it did. I tried a couple
more times, but still the same problem.

Please help me...Thank You!

Stop pressing <ENTER> on "Roll Back"? This probably just "rolls" the
new installation back to the PREVIOUS installation (XP), not launch
Vista itself.

i also have a very similar problem. im using a dell inspiron notebook 600m
with 512Mb ram, 1.6 ghz, win xp home, intel pentium 4 i believe. the only
difference is that i did get mine to fully install, but when it came for the
final restart (after installing features etc) it would merely start a loop of
restarts. I believe the cause may be several incompatible programs such as
norton internet security and aim but lack the time to be more certain it is
the problem.

To Donald,
You either press rollback or previous version...or don't pressanything and
let it go although not pressing anything takes you to the same place as
roling back!
