Unsent Mail

After more than a month of trying to get windows mail to send email, I still
get the same error message:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: 1st time', Account:
'Laptop Mail', Server: 'smtp.east.cox.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E.
I have talked to Cox on several occasions and they inform me that my setup
is correct & that something else is preventing the connection to the smtp
server. I uninstalled McAfee, but still unable to send mail from my outbox.

After uninstalling McAfee, remove your account and then close and reopen
WinMail and then add your account back again.

Also try this:

1. Go to the Vista start menu and type cmd
2. The search results will display a program titled cmd
3. Right-click on the link and select "Run as administrator"
4. type "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled" without
the quotatioin marks
5. Test your POP account and see if you can now download your mail.
6. If nothing changes, reenable the autotuning feature by typing
"netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=normal"

Do you mean "totally" disabling the firewall? If I did that and I could
finally send email, what would be the implications regarding the windows
firewall?
