unsend or retrieving e-mails?

Hello there! Here is a nut for the pros...

Is it possible in any way to retrieve sent e-mails?

Sometimes - like right now - I am a bit (read: very very)
frustrated, because I have sent an e-mail to the wrong
person. Once in a while I have sent mails from my draft
folder, by mistake too.

Are there any ways to unsend such messages or perhaps
delete them before they are received on the other end of
the line??

I am not alone on this, believe me.

Only if you are using Exchange server and are trying to retrieve mail from
the same organization that has not been opened.

You can try using Internet but I have never seen it work.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Lasse asked:

Unfortunately NO.

Once it has been sent it's gone. Like when you leave a
message on someones answering machine. Ooops!

yup
if you look in your "Sent Items" folder, there is a list
of all the emails you sent. Double click on the one you
wish to unsend, and a new window will open up, showing you
your message. In that new window, click "Action" on the
toolbar, and click "Recall Message". This will only work
if the person you sent it to hasnt opened the message yet.

This only works if the person is using Exchange, and even then it's horribly
unreliable. Plus the person who receives the message gets a notification
that the sender is trying to recall the message, and do they want to allow
the recall...so the recipient will have a chance to read the original
message before it's recalled if they wish to do so.
