I downloaded for the first time today, and accepted all the defaults.

Noticed two things:

1. The doc mentions "update" as the command line argument. This doesn't seem
to work.
I noticed the desktop shortcut uses "auto". Which is correct?

2. Everything goes fine until it tries to unzip. There is a flash of a
command window
then a pop up "Cannot Unzip, please unzip the file yourself".
Dropping down to the command line and running "unzip reflist.zip"
seems to work ok.

I am running XP and my path is:

"C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware 6"

The updater (in the above path) reads:

Description: AutoIt v3 Compiled Script
File Version: 3.0.102.0
Date Created: 7/16/2004 9:23 AM
Size 99.1KB

This was extracted from:
UOFAwupdaterv2final,071504.zip

Thanks for your help

It should be auto :), sorry about the mistake on the doc.

It sounds like the file could have been corrupted, so perhaps
try to do it once more. In the meantime, I will double check
the script here for potiential errors.

Thanks for your feedback.

I tried it several times (I was trying to catch the brief command window
message, unsuccessfully) and saw the same results each time. Also, I looked
to be sure I didn't have a rouge "unzip" somewhere in my path. I did not.

A debug switch, or a detailed log switch might be of some use. I don't know
if it is available with the compiler.

To help me figuring out what is going on: may I ask, where do
you put the folder of adaware updater and all its files that you
unzipped from the package? And, could you check to see in its
folder if the reflist.zip file were in there? And, do you see
the unzip.exe in the same folder (which needs to exist in the
same directory as the script, otherwise unzip won't be
successful)? Finally, could you do a window search on your
harddrive to see anywhere besides the Lavasoft folder has a file
call "reflist.ref" (you should only have one copy of this).

And a suggestion, try to put the whole AdawareUpdater folder in
the Lavasoft folder (not the Adaware folder, but just in the
Lavasoft folder), that is the place that it should work best and
with the least filepath unzipping problem.

Thank you.

(note: there is a know issue of the scripts dealing with some XP
systems in that they don't read file path correctly,...the
information you give me will help me to solve this).

My directory contents are listed below. This is the default for Adaware, and
as recommended, the default for updater.

The reflist file was found in reflist.ref.old and reflist.zip.old. I deleted
this and reran, same results.

I also placed the updater files in C:\Program Files\Lavasoft, which
successfully unzipped, however it eventually poped up an auto-error;

Line 0:
Run($COMMANDLINE)
Error: Unable to execute the external program.
The system cannot find the file specified.

Glad to be of help.

Great, I am gladed because UAV cannot be put in the same
folder as Adaware itself. I should have made this clear in
the Readme.

Line 0:
Run($COMMANDLINE)
Error: Unable to execute the external program.
The system cannot find the file specified.

This I *think* I can fix. In some XP systems, the default has
some problem. So, in the commandline change it to:

"C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware 6\Ad-aware.exe" C:\ +S +a
+1

and remember to click the change button. See if it would
help.

I still need to figure out why this is needed in some system
but won't work on the box I have myself.
