my feeling is this:
When I first started using FrontPage I was on a UNIX server and had to learn
a lot of "work arounds" on stuff. weird things wouldn't work. No .asp,
etc.
When I finally went to a windows server almost all hassles I'd learned
tricks to overcome had vanished.
I think it's unreasonable to think that a ms program would work as well on a
UNIX, or any other system as it would on a windows os/ server.
I don't think it's malevolence it's just that they're windows people working
on windows apps. it's just the way it is. there are plenty of windows
servers out there but just because it's a windows server doesn't mean it's
going to be kept up to date or even understood by the admins. you'd do best
with a well managed windows server.

Yep has exts.
I was looking for an objective overview, which is probably beyond the scope
of the ng. Do you know of any online comparisons? I just want to learn the
diffs.

| Depends upon the requirements of the web site.
| You can't run an access DB on an Apache/UNIX.
| But I believe just about everything else works providing the server has
| extensions installed.

| | Ok, folks...this keeps coming up lately...whether to use Unix/Linux Server
or
| Windows Server. Is there a website that discusses the pro/cons of each
when
| using FP?
