Hello,

I have just reinstalled Windows XP on my computer, however I cannot get any
of my USB peripheral to work. I checked the device manager and it says that I
don't have the Univerisal Serial Bus (USB) Controller Driver, I have been
looking around and I have been unable to find a driver. I am using USB 1
still.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of the relevant driver? As this
is really annoying because I have a lot of my files on external USB Harddisks
and at the moment I can't access any of them.

Thank you
Neil.

Go back in to Device manager> expand the serial bus controller.
On the ones with a question mark> right-click>select Properties>
upgrade/install driver from there.
When it gives you a choice to install from CD, or go on the NET this one
time, accept the net way..
It will download the USB 2.0 drivers for you.

Every time you reinstall early XP, you have to do the above.

Thank you, worked straight away.

Regards.
Neil

Are you using the original 2002 version of XP? You need at least SP1a
installed for USB2 to work. Or is it SP2? It's been so long since I
installed either as individual updates.
