Uninstalling Windows Mail

I would like to install Windows Mail Live, but I cannot find where to
uninstall Windows Mail. However, I want to download Windows Mail Live, and
see if it is possible to import my email contacts. Does Windows Mail Live
overwrite Windows Mail, or must it be uninstalled?

Actually, neither.

They are entirely separate programs. WLM does not overwrite WM, and WM can
stay where it is.

You can just go ahead and download and install WLM; you may want to set it
to leave messages on the server for a while, if you are unsure as to whether
you will like it or not.

You can't uninstall Windows Mail, as it's part of the OS.
When you install Windows Live Mail, it should import your WM emails and
contacts.

WLM by default leaves messages on the server. However, if the OP
runs both email programs, he will need to configure WM to leave
messages on the server.

I'm trying to install Windows 7; it says to discontinue the installation and
uninstall Windows Mail before proceeding. So if I can't uninstall it,
1) how do I proceed
2) why does Microsoft tell me to uninstall it?

Thanks,
Mike

You probably misread the warning message.
All you need to do is exit the Windows 7 install, reboot, then restart the
Windows 7 install. It should proceed normally the second time.

I have never heard of uninstalling Windows Mail. Gary is the expert and I
assume his guidance has already gotten you past the issue.
