uninstalling version 4.7

Like the mail from Ruud, I also cannot get rid of version
4.7 and have version 6 aswell. V4.7 starts automatically
when I start Outlook Express (despite setting in the OE
options not to) and at the same time the messenger icon
does not appear. I have also uninstalled the messenger
component from XP in 'remove/add windows components', and
this still doesn't get rid of it. Any ideas??

go to START
got to RUN
cut and past this command:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%
\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

and hit OK
windows messenger will be deleted....

Greetings Keith,

You can remove Windows Messenger 4.7, but if you do, you will be preventing Remote
Assistance, Whiteboard, Application Sharing and any other applications that utilize Messenger
from working (or loading without problems).

Instead, you can simply disable Windows Messenger loading with Outlook Express. To do so,
close Outlook Express, then download and run this .reg file:
