Uninstall Programs is extremely slow

HAs anyone figured out why the heck uninstalling a program takes forever and
CPU utilization goes through the roof???? WinXP was lightspeed ahead of how
Vista goes about it. To uninstall a simple progrm took me over a half an
hour of waiting "while Windows prepares to uninstall", or "windows
configuring to uninstall xxxxxxxx".

Part of the reason is that a Restore Point is automatically made when you
uninstall a program in Vista.

Not, imho, a good idea... restore points may "save your bacon" one day.
There may be other possibilities for what is slowing your system down during
uninstalls. Did you look at Performance and Reliability tool to see what
exactly is chewing up the CPU cycles?

There are advantages to leaving it on. Is this an hourly task? Weekly?
Monthly?
