Uninstall IE7 Beta 1.

S

saint_craig

Ok read the entire message...

I wish to uninstall IE7 Beta 1 to install IE7 Beta 2, however the
quandry here is that If I go into ADD/Remove programs and check the
Show Updates box, the IE7 Beta1 update is not shown in the list of
programs.

Ok, so we check in the \windows\ directory for the $ uninstall file. no
dice it's been deleted.

So the question of the day is how do you either A: uninstall it, and
revert back to IE6 or break it enough, so that the IE7 Beta 2 does nto
recognise that it is installed to begin with and will try to install.

Use wise, it's not a huge deal since I generally do not use IE to begin
with.

First try uninstalling via Add/Remove Programs. (Make sure Show Updates box
is checked)

If IE7 isn't found there, try the following, compiled by/courtesy of MVP
Sandi Hardmeier:

Run the commandline

%windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

(replace %windir% with the path to your Windows folder, most often
c:\windows). Make sure view hidden folders is enabled via Control Panel,
Folder Options.

or

Go to the key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

Right click on Internet Explorer > New String Value > Name that value
InstalledByUser (the value of the new String should be your User Account
name) > Uninstall IE7 via Add/Remove Programs.

Thanks for the suggestions, however if you read my previous post I had
already researched and tried these options.

Any other suggestions?

Checked the system Restores for as far back as they can go, I cannot
find a system restore from when I installed this.

Option 2 not an option at this point.

Do you (Or anyone) know how to break it enough to get it to re-install
over itself?
