Uninstall files

I have many files under the Windows folder headed $ntuninstall.... I
believe I saw somewhere that these are files that can be used to uninstall
Windows operating system patches and can be deleted so long as there are no
plans to uninstall the patches.

Can someone verify that this is correct?

Thanks.

Be careful not to delete any for IE7 if you have that installed or you may
find yourself having to reformat and reinstall Windows.

Like everyone else asking about the "$NTUninstall..." folders, I need the
space on my hard drive. Can I just dump the unused folders to a CD or DVD
and delete them from my hard drive; but leave the entries for them in the
Add/Remove Programs part of the Control Panel? I figure if I need a folder,
I can copy it back to the hard drive from the CD before doing the uninstall
via the Add/Remove Programs applet.

Can I do this as well with the "$MSI..." folders, along with anything shown
in blue (compressed)? I assume I can whack the log files too.

Thanks for the help!
