Unexpected System Shutdown

R

Reeley

After a few hours of operation, my Packard Bell Intel 2.8
PC running XP Home powers off and reboots. There is no
indication it is going to happen - the PC just suddenly
reboots. I get no error or scandisk messges on reload and
the PC may go for a while before doing it again. I've used
system restore to go back a while to when I didn't have
the problem - still does it. Norton 2003 is completely up
to date and cannot find a virus / worm etc. PC also seems
to stall for about 3 - 5 minutes during startup with a
black screen before continuing to then load notmally. Any
Ideas?

go to control panel and click on power options. Then look
at your configuration. It may be that you have your
computer turns of part of your computer after selected
number of hours. change this to never and then click
apply. Next click on advanced (tab) and make sure you
have the power button set correctly. my computer will
probely be diffrent then yours but i think you have a
problem with the power options. worst problem you could
have would be a critical problem that makes a error log
and restarts the computer (i had this problem 3 days ago
and i had to run the windows xp disk repair thing in ms-
dos) so if this does not help then try making you system
boot from the cd and insert your windows xp disk and
press enter and then click R to repair the selected os

see ya,
