Unexpected Closure of IE

A

Andy Bodger

I have a strange problem. using IE6 on NTL broadband.
When clicking on certain websites. My IE just closes
down, shuts off completely. I dont lose my connection
though, just the closing down of my browser. I have
tried the same websites on other computers with no
problems at all. I can click onto "images" on the Google
taskbar. But when I try to click on any image poof it's
gone!! Has anyone got any ideas? This is driving me nuts.

Did you find anything out from anyone on this problem yet? I too have this
same EXACT problem. I can use internet explorer 6.0 just fine, except
when going to certain websites, nothing linking the few that I try to go
to and it just CLOSES out -- I try again to open up IE 6.0, opens fine,
but if I go to that same website that closed it down the last time, it
will continually close down -- Just can't go to them... what is that?
Like I said, it's not any type of website out of the norm, just regular
sites. Other computers IE takes you there, but for some reason, mine will
close down all together IE if I try to get on certain websites. I wonder
if this is our advanced settings, but Mine are by default and I even tried
to ALLOW these websites in (custom settings) just to see if that would let
me on - NOPE, still closes. I can't even find info on it on the web,
unless I am pulled into groups like these where people like us are
searching for the answer to fix this problem. If there is one. HELP me!
LOL
Thanks for being out there too, though. So I don't feel like it's me
asking the silly questions. At least people know it's not just you now.
:) If anyone knows what causes this or how to fix it from continuing to
happen, let us know please. OR, if you got an answer privately which isn't
posted here or fixed the problem yourself, please let me know what it was.
Thanks much. K. from York PA

have you all received any off-site replies to this problem? I am going
through the exact same thing- when I try to log onto yahoo mail or other
"normal" pages, the browser just closes itself. I have installed and run
cwshredder and ad-ware but to no avail. any suggestions would be *greatly*
appreciated....

okay- I looked a little further through these posts and found some alternate
browser recommendations. I downloaded the "opera" browser from download.com,
used it to open my yahoo mail account, closed everything and have now
returned to my computer to find that my IE browser has decided to cooperate
again (after a week of being troublesome). not saying its a cure-all, but its
apparently helped me...
