Uncessary folders

Hi All

Maybe I am too fussy, but I hate those niggling folders in the "Program
Files" folder:

MovieMaker
NetMeeting
MSN Gaming zone
Xerox

I used to have SP1 and following some tips on the net, modified the
sfcfiles.dll, booted in the safe mode and successfully deleted them.
However, after installing SP2, THEY ARE BACK. and any number of modifications
to sfcfiles.dll does not seem to work. Even though I delete the folders in
the safe mode, they are back again after rebooting. This time, the folder
names are all in small letters.

Can anyone out here help me by letting me know how to delete this folders,
once and for all??

TIA

Sasha

Those are Windows XP system folders and cannot be removed.

I haven't yet discovered a way to delete the folders, but here's how
to delete the MSN Gaming Zone files:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/microsoft.public.games.zone/msg/42ff34bd203f7da3

I've verified that this works on my Win XP Pro SP2 system. (At least
the files disappeared and did not reappear in a few seconds. I'm
hoping they don't come back after I reboot.)
Those are Windows XP system folders and cannot be removed.

Why? It seems particularly idiotic of Microsoft that _games_ would
be considered undeletable system folders.

The issue appears to be something called "Windows File Protection",
which has only the sketchiest documentation in Help. The Help topic
says it's "enabled by default" but gives no hint how to disable it.

/Windows XP Annoyances for Geeks/ says to run GRPEDIT.MSC as
administrator, then select
Computer Configuration
Administrative Templates
System
Windows File Protection
But the explanation that shows in the left panel says that disabling
File Protection does not disable the background scan! And apparently
it's the BS (background scan) that restores the unwanted files and
folders.

But surely there has to be some way to delete these ueless folders.
Anyone know?

A: Maybe because some people are too annoyed by top-posting.
Q: Why do I not get an answer to my question(s)?
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
