Unaccessable_boot_device

Guest

Dear Sirs:

A couple weeks ago we purchased a Win 2K Professional download (below, in
bold are the instructions you sent with the download). When we attempted to
install it, everything went wrong. 1st, according to your instructions, the
CD will be bootable. Not only is the CD un-bootable, it is un-usable;
because it is an ISO file (image). Is there some way to burn the ISO image
on a CD so that it is not an image file (some sort of automatic extraction
process)? We downloaded Nero, using the link you sent us. After installing
Nero; we cannot find a way to automatically extract the image file, and burn
it to a CD.

Next; we downloaded Win 2K Pro boot disk files from the web. We then tried
to install Win 2000, booting from these disks. Although we have a Maxtor
hard drive, formatted in FAT 32, that we can access from Win 98, and XP, we
can not install Win 2K on it. We get a stop error that says:
Unaccessable_boot_device. Next we tried extracting the ISO image with a
program called Undisker. We then tried to install Win 2K with the boot
disks again. The first attempt we got an error that said: Unable to locate
EULA (end user license agreement), installation stopped. We have tried to
install many times sine then, but we continually get the stop error that
says: unaccessable_boot_device.

Please help us resolve these issues.

Thank you,

This may help.
http://www.nero.com/us/631938337650017.html

To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup
disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000
CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute
makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the
prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Be sure to apply these to your new install before connecting to any network.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-049.mspx

You didn't mention the drive controller (possibly SCSI, or ultra DMA, or
ATA100, or raid, or serial ATA), but you may need to boot the Windows 2000
setup disks or CD-Rom and *F6* very early and very important (at setup is
inspecting your system) in the setup to prevent drive controller detection,
and select S to specify additional drivers. Then later you'll be prompted to
insert the manufacturer supplied Windows 2000 driver for your drive's
controller in drive "A"

If you wait and then S to specify additional drivers, then it may be too
late as Windows 2000 Setup at this point may have already assigned the
resources your drive's controller is wanting to use.

I'm wondering if this thing is legit, I have doubts. Maybe legitimate
software vendors sell MS OS that way but it sounds fishy to me. Anyhow
they will get a sudden increase in server access, maybe they will figure
out that something is wrong and change things... before MS comes a
knocking on their door.

First of all, posting this 20 times to this newsgroup is not
acceptable.

Second, Microsoft has nothing to do with this software distribution,
and it additionally is an infraction of copyrights. This is probably
bootleg software - and illegal to use.

Third, Posting web addresses, access IDs and passwords, along with the
product activation code to a public newsgroup is absolutely moronic.

You should contact the vendor of this crap, if they are still in
business after MS lawyers get through with them, and have them explain
how to burn an ISO image properly. You don't just copy the file to a
CD.

Dear Dr. Numb Nuts:

1st off, I have a hunch you are an ass hole; besides being a moron. 2nd,
we did not intentionally post anything 20 times, or intentionally post the
pass words, and key codes. Like anything else Microsoft has its hand in,
this site didn't work quite right.

Further more ass hole; if this is pirated, we surely want to know. We will
stop payment on the credit card.

3rd, I really could not care less what Microsoft, or their two bit lawyers
think, like, do not like, et cetera...

Microsoft is the most chicken shit company these United States have ever had
the misfortune to be saddled with. It is a shame they were not broken up
years ago.

4th, Microsoft is being sued by so many companies; at any given time, for
all their illegal actions; it seems their chicken shit lawyers would be
pretty busy. After losing a 536 million dollar law suit to Novell a month,
or so ago, maybe they are working on hiring a few more (which did not include
the billion dollar law suit over WordPerfect).

5th, if Microsoft could make an environment that actually worked to begin
with, we would never come to this site; to begin with.

Last, I really don't give a dam what you think, or what you find acceptable
on this site, or any other. Got that numb nuts.

Maybe this will post, maybe it won't.

Aliene
