unable to upgrade XP home to XP pro

Brian

Hello,

I've been using Sony Vaios for our company, never had a
problem upgrading any previous models. The two new units
I purchased, and am unable to apply the upgrade to, have
the newer "recovery partition" built in, (meaning you
create your own recovery cd's from a hidden partition on
the HD).

After running the XP pro install (which appears to
complete succesfully) the system reboots as it should,
but after the XP pro launch screen comes on, an error
message comes on that says "Not enough virtual memory or
page file quota is available to complete the operation."
and the system again reboots. It will then continue on
this endless loop untill powered down.

I'm thinking XP pro is having a problem with the hidden
recovery partition, but I may be off base.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Brian Waggoner

I should have mentioned...

Sony Vaio model PCV -S410
XP home SP1
XP Pro upgrade volume license October 2001 (end item PN E85-01172)

It's not the recovery partition as I first thought, I tried with that
partition removed, same problem.

Thanks again,
Brian

OKlier

insert the pro cd. delete the partition you want to install it on. create
the partition, format it, now let it install...upgrading can cause more
problems than its worth.

I have the same problem with my Sony PVC-RS420. Was
there ever a solution to this issue?
