Please can anyone help! When I try to boot winxp pro. It stops with an error
message saying 'winlogon.exe component missing' then says reinstalling could
solve the problem, but I am unable to boot, in any mode. It also sayd
'ole32.dll file missing'. I have tried safe mode. When I try and reboot with
the winxp CD in place, it will not start from CD. I have made sure that the
boot sequence has been changed, but still no luck. Please can anyone help!!

When you boot from the CD you should get a message in the top left hand
corner of a black screen saying 'press any key to boot from CD' You need to
press any key for the windows boot sequence to start.

You shouldn't start the same thread in different newsgroups. Please
stay with the thread in windowsxp.general.

If you have a floppy disk drive you could download the Windows XP boot disks
from www.bootdisk.com You will need to choose which version, i.e home or Pro
and then download the relevant file (you are redirected to the Microsoft
site for the download). Run the application and it will create 6 floppy
disks (make sure you have the floppies handy). label them 1 through to 6 and
then insert the first floppy into your floppy drive and reboot. Mkae sure
you also put your CD into the CD-ROM this will be needed later. You will be
asked to change the floppies as necessary during the main part of
installation. As installation progresses it should finally access the CD and
continue installation from there. I assume the CD-ROM does work correctly?
have you tried other CDs in it?

Thanks for your help. I managed to start up by downloading a boot CD for XP,
and then reinstalling windows, as I could not fix it. Now I have two winxp
os's on the PC , which is using all the disk space. Can anyone tell me how
to delete to first os that will not load, even though I will lose all the
data? Or is there a way to fix the first os then delete the most recently
installed one?

Thanks again for your help!
