Unable to send in RTF

Hamish McSporen

I have been able to send rich text emails via outlook2000 for some months.
In
the last few days any rich text email is either returned or delivered minus
the attachment. (Yes the recipients are running Outlook2000 also). On
occasion when mail is returned I receive the following message (ip addresses
and email addresses have been changed to protect the innocent):
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----

<[email protected]>

(reason: 554 <[email protected]>: Recipient address

rejected: Relay access denied)

----- Transcript of session follows -----

.... while talking to xx.xx.xxx.xx.:

<<< 554 <[email protected]>: Recipient address rejected: Relay

access denied

554 5.0.0 Service unavailable

<<< 554 Error: no valid recipients

Can anyone help me with this?

I don't think RTF is the issue so much as that your ISP is not allowing
relaying of 3rd party mail through its servers without authentication. You
can try setting up authentication to your outgoing mail server and see if
that helps. Do this on the Outgoing Server tab for your mail account.
