UNABLE TO RECEIVE INCOMING EMAIL

When I go into my email using Windows Mail and click on send/receive I
receive the following error message:

Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', Server: 'incoming.verizon.net',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

When I got through Verizon Central, the incoming emails are in my in box. I
then go back in through Windows Mail and the emails are in the inbox.

I've called the help line 4 times and get slightly different answers each
time. First it was my settings, then the wrong network was selected, and
now the emails are too large. The email that hung up the system today was
only 4kb.

Does anybody know of a solution to this problem. Thanks.

There is a reasonable chance you are using an incompatible antivirus
program.
Are you another Norton or McAfee victim?
If you are infected by either of those nasties uninstall them
and install a Vista compatible alternative such as
Avast or AVG, both of which are free.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
should be uninstalled.

We did uninstall Norton and Installed Avast, also changed from Windows Mail
to Mozilla. Problem seem to be solved. Thanks.

Since we "fixed" the problem, I was able to receive email for 1 day, then
the same problem. I can only see my new emails by logging into Verizon
Central.

Did you go back to Windows Mail or are you still using Mozilla Thunderbird?
If the latter, we can't help you here in this particular newsgroup.

Note: It is always best to make only one change at a time, then do a lot
of testing before proceeding to the second change.
