Unable to query DNS server, nslookup returns "no response from ser

Hi All-

I have a HP running vista and am unable to resolve DNS names. The two other
machines I have work fine, one of which is also running Vista. Here is what
I have tried so far-

1. Can ping router, which is also my DHCP/DNS server. It has forward
enabled for DNS queries.
2. Can ping the DNS servers my router forwards to.
3. Reinstalled everything, to the point of pulling the NIC and removing all
protocals.
4. Checked system policy to make sure nothing was out of whack.
5. Changed the Ipv4 settings to use my ISP DNS server addresses instead of
my router. Changed it to use my router address (like it was already doing by
default).
6. Made sure no crazy protocal crap was running or even installed. The
system looks clean to me, it is a clean install of Vista Enterprise with
Office.
7. Tried netmon to see if the query were even making it off the box. It
does not appear that they are.

To me it looks like it is never even trying to hit the DNS server.
Immediately upon running a nslookup query you get the "server failed to
respond" message.

This is pretty bad, I actually work at MS and figured I could get help just
as quick here as anywhere else!

thanks
