Unable to publish web with FP2000

What a waste of my time. Hours wasted trying every
conceivable action to try and publish my FP web to
Tripod.com.

Error message every time is:

The server could not complete your request. Contact your
ISP or web server administrator to make sure that the
server has the FP server extensions installed. For more
specific information, click Details:

The details are:
404 Not Found
Not Found The requested URL /_vti_bin/shtml.exe/_vti_rpc
was not found on this server.

As I said, I have tried everything, and followed ALL the
suggestions on Tripod's online help. Is this a problem
with MY FP2000 (which published fine the last time I used
it 2 years ago), or is something wrong with the Tripod
server??

Please help, my faith in this product is quickly being
shattered. Please email me directly at sabr (at) hotmail
(dot) com, but please also put reply here as I believe
others have experienced similar problems - however I have
had no luck finding a clear answer in my extensive
searches on the net!

Thanks, Ahmad.

Have you or do you have to ability to try and publish to another web host?
As this will determine if the problem is local, your machine or indeed a
Tripod server issue.

Hi and thanks for the reply,

I don't have the ability to do this - I have been looking
around for a similar free site unsuccessfully. However
this afternoon, I used a colleagues machine and created a
test one-page web and tried to upload this to the same
URL, again with the same error message.

I would then say the issue is with Tripod then.

Hello again Thomas,

Just had an email from Tripod claiming that they could
connect to the account with FP without reproducing the
same error... Now I'm not only frustrated but confused.

Any suggestions please? Thanks, Ahmad.

Hi thanks for the reply,

I have enabled, disable, re-enabled, deleted, and re-re-
enabled the FP extensions with no joy. I have followed
everything in the online Tripod help and tried every
avenue but still get the same problem. I found a newsgroup
posting on the web from someone who seemed to get the same
error message every time he tried to update the web -
creating a completely new account and publishing was ok,
but it would give the error every subsequent time - which
obviously makes it unusable... However there was no reply
to his question which solved the problem.

Thanks again, Ahmad.

I used to have my students publish to Geocities and also to Tripod and most
of the time very successfully but when there is a problem, you are stuck. I
finally broke down and purchased a site and for the few dollars a month, it
was well worth the investment.

Good luck with your publishing.
